The Night Before Your Speech

A workbook to learn your speech or toast, then give it without notes

Written, but not learned yet?

Turn the key points into pictures, and give it with your eyes up.

Five main ideas are easy to hold. Know them, and you can say each one in your own words, even if a line goes missing. Five steps, the method behind each one, and the sheet.

She reads her toast word by word. Tonight, she makes five odd pictures. In the morning, she runs them again. Eyes up, she speaks, and the room laughs.

Questions

What if I go blank?

Go back to the last number you said and walk to the next: four is door. Let the picture bring the point back, and your words come with it.

Do I learn it word for word?

No. The numbers hold the points in order, and you say each one your own way. A line that must be exact, like a quote, can go on a small card.

Does this work for a toast, a talk at work, a eulogy?

Yes. Any speech with a few main ideas works the same way: a wedding toast, a work update, a eulogy, a class you teach, a talk at your club.
